Gallipoli

General Information about Gallipoli

Gallipoli which is best remembered for the Battle of Gallipoli or Battle of Canakkale during World War I is an ancient Turkish city located along the Gallipoli peninsula. Set along the Dardanelles straits and the Aegean Sea, Gallipoli is closely neighboured by Lapseki and Kesan.

Anzac Cove is the most visited destination of the Gallipoli peninsula particularly during the ceremonial events of Anzac Day. Anzac day takes place on the 25th of April each year as this is when Australians, British and New Zealand soldiers landed here during the battle of Ottoman. The dawn service and Anzac Day ceremonial events draws as many as 15,000 visitors who were affected by this historical event.
