Malmo

General Information about Malmo

Malmo which was originally a Danish city since approximately 1275 can be found within the province of Scania. It was not until the 17th century that ruler ship changed from Denmark to Sweden. Malmo can be found within the province of Scania and is ideally located along the Oresund Staight.

Malmo is closely neighboured by Copenhagen at a distance of 47 kilometre while Sweden's second largest city of Gothenburg can be found at a distance of 270 kilometres. The city of Malmo features many interesting historical buildings and monuments but the city's most notable feature is the Turning Torso.

The Turning Torso is Malmo's tallest building with 54 stories in total, making it Europe's second tallest residential building. Visiting the Malmo Castle should definitely be on your list of places to visit. The original Malmo Castle was built in 1434 but the castle that stands today was built around 1530. You can choose to travel to Malmo vis, train, bus, car, boat or plane with regular flights landing at the Malmo Airport and the Copenhagen Airport.
