General Information about Valencia

Valencia which is the third largest city in Spain is home to approximately 797,650 people and has been inhabited since as far back as 140 BC. Valencia which means Strength or Vigour in Latin is the capital of the Valencian Community. Other regions in this community are Alicante and Castello.

Valencia is a charming city with many architecture that dates back to the 13th century with strong Gothic influences beautifully mixed with Romanesque and Baroque architecture. Valencia boasts a range of monasteries, museums, churches and cathedrals that are definitely worth visiting.

While you are there be sure to visit the Old Quarter of the city where many visitors head to visit Valencia's famous monument of Santa Catalina Church and Tower. For two treats in one visit the Cathedral of Valencia which is a medieval cathedral as well as the city's oldest museum. You can also stop for a break at one of the many cafes that are here or if you would like to purchase some fresh local delicacy's then be sure to visit Mercado Central where you will be in food paradise.

Valencia is home to some beautiful beaches with the Malvarrossa beach being the most popular. Valencia is not a popular as other parts of Spain but is beginning to be a real contender with thousands of visitors visiting each year.
