General Information about Sliema

Sliema, which is one of Malta's most popular holiday destinations can be found along Malta's northern coast. Well known as the Star of the Sea the town of Sliema is home to over thirteen thousand residents. There are many interesting places worth exploring while you are visiting Sliema such as the Tigne Point and the Dragut Point.

The resort town of Sliema has a very interesting historical past as a result of the events from the 1565 Siege of Malta. The town was also controlled by the British from around 1855 and because of this many of the town street names are of British origin.

One of Sliema's most popular attractions is the towns many trendy cafes, restaurants and shopping districts. The best way of travelling to Sliema is via ferry from Malta's capital Valletta.
