San Sebastian
General Information about San Sebastian
 Found within Basque Country the city of San Sebastian was officially founded back in 1180 and is one of Spain's most loved and popular holiday destinations. San Sebastian which is closely neighboured by Bilbao at a distance of just 97 kilometres is ideally located along the Bay of Biscay. San Sebastian boasts a population of over 184,000 residents and is home to many popular beautiful beaches.
It would have to be San Sebastian's charming beaches that draws so many visitors each year. Surfing one of the city's most popular watersports but for those more interested in lazing on the beach then the most popular beach is La Concha.
There are many events and festivals happening in San Sebastian each year but the most well known is the annual San Sebastian International Film Festival. If you are visiting San Sebastian in January then you will be in for a treat as this is when the annual event known as Tamborrada is held. Travelling to San Sebastian is simple with regular flights landing at the local airport but it is also possible to travel via car or bus.
