Pamplona

General Information about Pamplona

Pamplona which has been inhabited since 74 B.C by the Romans can be found within the North of Spain just 82 kilometres away from San Sebastian. Also located within the region of Navarre the city of Pamplona is home to approximately 196,000 residents and attracts many visitors each year.

Pamplona is best known for its annual festival known as San Fermin but is best known as “The Rnning of the Bulls”. The festival begins each summer at midday on the 6th of July. The festival runs for nine days in total and it is on the second day that the running of the bulls takes place. Known locally as “Encierro” and although this event is extremely dangerous many people still gather to watch this extraordinary event.

You can either choose to travel to Pamplona via plane, bus, car or train with regular trains arriving from many destinations such as Barcelona and Madrid.
