MadridGeneral Information about MadridMadrid which is Spain's capital city with a population of almost 6 million is set along the Manzanares river between Castile, Leon, and Castile-La Mancha. Madrid is filled with medieval architecture as well as many historical cathedrals and churches.
Siesta's usually occur at midday however some workers choose to work traditional business hours. Madrid is a city filled with culture and is home to many historical monuments. Set in the city's centre is the Puerta de Alcala which is an arch that was built back in 1779. Then there is the marble Cibeles Fountain which depicts the goddess known s Cybele.
A trip to Madrid would not be complete without visiting the Royal Palace of Madrid which is the official residence of the King of Spain. It is mainly used today for state and ceremonial occasions and is also a museum. As you walk down the famous Paseo del Arte which is a path filled with paintings, architecture, sculptures and of course nature you will come across some of Madrid's most popular art galleries.
The nightlife of Madrid is endless with numerous bars and cafe's to choose from where the locals will party with you well into dawn. Shopping in Madrid is a real treat with a wide variety of street markets, hidden boutiques, antique shops that will keep you entertained all day. Spain Destinations
