Belgrade

General Information about Belgrade

Belgrade which is one of Europe's oldest cities set near the Sava and Danube Rivers in north central Serbia. Belgrade which has been inhabited since as far back as the 3rd century BC by a Celtic tribe and was originally known as Singidun or Singidunum.

Belgrade is home to approximately two million people and features a wide range of historical architecture. While visiting Belgrade a trip to the highly popular Skadarlija which is a vintage street in the suburb of Stari Grad. Most visitors head straight to the main street of Ulica Knez Mihailova or Prince Michael Street, here you will find some of Belgrades oldest monuments as well as a large variety of shops.

A trip to the National Museum should not be missed and if your of opera or ballet then a trip to the National Theatre would be the ideal night out. Even if your not a fan of ballet or opera you will be sure to fall in love with the National Theatre with its beautiful architecture that dates back to 1869.

Belgrad offers many typical holiday activities if you would like to take a break from sightseeing, with water skiing, bungee jumping. There are also a wide variety of clubs that are open 24 hours with overnight beach parties with live music.
