InvernessGeneral Information about InvernessInverness which is thought to have been inhabited since the 6th century can be found within Soctland's Highlands in the northern parts of Scotland. The city of Inverness is ideally located along the River Ness which originates in Lock Ness. Inverness is closely neighboured by Aberdeen at a distance of 104 miles while Edinburgh is set at a distance of 156 miles.
Inverness is well known for not having any set city boundaries and because of this it is hard to calculate the city's exact population, however the population is estimated between 41,000 and 67,000 residents. Inverness is also closely located near Moray Firth which is an inlet found within the North Sea.
Inverness most well known historical building is the Inverness Castle which is set at the edge of the River Ness. The original castle built here was originally built back in the 12th century, while the castle that stands today was built during the 19th century. The Inverness Castle today features architecture from Victorian times and is now location of the local Sheriff Court. Another well known historical building is the Abertarff House which dates back to 1592 and is in fact the city's oldest building.
