GlasgowGeneral Information about GlasgowOfficially known as the City of Glasgow, and is also Scotland's largest city with a population of approximately 580,000 within the city while in the neighbouring town of Clydeside there is a population of almost 2 million. The city of Glasgow is filled with culture, an array of architecture with small remains from its medieval period.
Glasgow is a very athletic city, so much so that it was named as the European Capital of Sport in 2003 and is proud to host the Commonwealth Games in 2014. Glasgow has a very happening music scene and interestingly enough it is here that the band Oasis was first recognised.
There are plenty of museums and art gallery's as well as churches and cathedrals to visit while you are here with many of these being built in Victorian times.
The Glasgow Cathedral is worth visiting with its medieval Gothic architecture, also worth visiting is Saint Andrew's Cathedral and Saint Mary's Cathedral. One of the best places to visit to learn about the history of Glasgow is the People's Palace and the Winter Gardens.
If its shopping your interested in then look no further as Glasgow ranks in second place for shopping experiences after London. The Barras is one of the most popular shopping districts to visit with plenty of live entertainment as well as thousands of treasures to take home.
