General Information about Uglich

Located along the Volga River within the region of Yaroslavl Oblast is where you will find the interesting Russian town of Uglich. Home to over 40,000 residents Uglich has been inhabited since approximately 937 and is set along the Volga River.

Uglich is often connected with Ivan the Terrible's youngest son, Dmitriy Ivanovich who was assassinated in 1584 when he was just eight years of age. The town of Urlich since turned the the palace where the prince lived into a museum. They also built a church in the same place where the prince was assassinated as tribute which is known as the Church of St Demetrios on the Blood.
