General Information about Setubal
 Boasting some spectacular views of the Sado river, the city of Setubal is set within the region of Lisboa just over 40 kilometres away from Lisbon. Officially founded as a city in 1860, Setubal is home to a population of more than 120,000 residents.
Setubal's city centre is where many people begin exploring this historical city, but the most popular attraction is the Monastery of Jesus. The architecture of the Monastery of Jesus is known as Manueline otherwise known as Portuguese late Gothic. Dating back to 1490, the Monastery of Jesus is today used as an art museum. Travelling to Setubal is simple with regular trains arriving from Lisbon but it is also possible to reach Setubal via car, bus or boat.
