Found within the Atlantic Ocean at sea level is the city of Ponta Delgada. The city of Ponta Delgada is located on the island of Sao Miguel along the southern parts of the island. Ponta Delgada is the host city of the Azores archipelago but is also Sao Miquel's most populated city with a population of approximately 65,000 residents.

Ponta Delgada is one of the islands most visited holiday destinations with its attraction being its harbour. The city boasts a number of festivals throughout the year with the most popular event being the Festas doSenhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres.

The city of Ponta Delgada offers some amazing views from the surrounding mountains known as Sete Cidades. Sete Cidades which translates to Seven Cities rises to 2,808 feet and the main feature is the two lakes that are set within the mountains craters. Theses lakes are known as Lagoa Azul and Lagoa Verde and visiting the the Sete Cidades is something not to be missed as the views of the surrounding areas are absolutely breathtaking.

Ponta Delgada is service by the Ponta Delgada Airport which welcomes many visitors from all over the globe, but mostly from North America and Europe.
