Longyearbyen

General Information about Longyearbyen

Found in the centre of the Svalbard archipelago on the island of Spitsbergen, Longyearbyen is named after John Munro Longyear who established the town in 1906. Longyearbyen is home to just over 2,000 people with the majority of the population being of Norwegian nationality.
