Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom and occupies the North Eastern part of the island of Ireland. It has a population of 1.7 million and its largest city Belfast is its capital. Northern Ireland has a temperate maritime climate with unpredictable weather for most of the year with much of the country covered in grassland.

Northern Island has many fine examples of castles some dating back to the Norman times and with its many museums there is plenty of history to view. Nature lovers are well catered for too with many nature reserves, forests and wildlife to see during the many walking trails. The outdoor adventurers are well looked after too with a wide range of outdoor activities from caving, climbing and water pursuits.

The the two main city's are Lodonderry with the capital city being Belfast and a population of over 1.710 million people. Northern Ireland is also home to the largest freshwater lake in the United Kingdom the Lough Neagh.

There is so much to do in Northern Ireland for everybody especially in the capital of Belfast. Held annually each October for over 41 years the Belfast Festival at Queen's is packed full of cultural activities and is one of Northern Ireland's largest arts festival. In May the long running international street theatre the Festivals of Fools is held in the centre of Belfast with many amusing and entertaining performances.
