Chisinau

General Information about Chisinau

Chisinau which is also known as Kishinev in Russian can be found along the river Bic which flows for approximately 155 kilometres and has been inhabited since 1436. Many of the older buildings in Chisinau were made of white limestone and as a result of this is often referred to as the White City.

There are many historical monuments that you should visit while you are in Chisinau. The Birth of Christ Cathedral is a popular sight to see which was built back in 1836 and is also known as the Christmas Cathedral. Chisinau features many charming parks and boulevards that are ideal way of seeing this beautiful city. The Stefan cel Mare Boulevard is set in the main street and is home to many fine shops full of souvenirs and restaurants.

Getting to Chisinau is easy with it's own international airport that connects this interesting city to the rest of the world. A trip to Chisinau would not be complete with out sampling some of the city's famous cognac, liquior's and wines.
