General Information about Turin

Turin Countryside View

Located in Northern Italy within the region of Piedmont the city of Turin is home to more than two million residents. Dating back to Roman times, Turin is one of Italy's most important cities and has a prospering economy. So much so that it is the third strongest after Rome and Milan.

Turin is closely neigboured by Cuneo at a distance of 97 kilometres with Milan be located at a distance of 140 kilometres. Turin is ideally located along the Po River which originates in the Cottian Alps with the basin being located in Italy and Switzerland. Turin is well known for many reasons and is nicknamed the Automobile Capital of Italy, as the city is the headquarters for Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Lancia. Travelling to Turin is simple with regular trains arriving at the train stations from Milan, but it is also possible to travel to Turin via plane and car.
