Douglas which is the capital of the Isle of Man and is home to approximately 26,200 people and is the largest city of the Isle of Man. Douglas has strong influences of Celtic and Norse heritages and features many historical attractions.

While visiting Douglas a trip to the Tower of Refuge is a must which dates back to 1824. The Tower of Refuge was built on the Conister Rocks and set in the reef of Douglas Bay and is meant to resemble a castle. The city of Douglas featues many museums as well as many beautiful parks and gardens.

If your interested in the arts then visiting the Gaiety Theatre should not be missed which was built back in 1900 and was featured on the Isle of Man commemorative stamp back in 1994. There are many fine restaurants to choose from while visiting Douglas with fish and chips being the most popular food of choice. A trip to Douglas would not be complete without sampling some of the Isle of Man's popular Manx beer.
