General Information about Vatican City

Vatican City which is located in the centre of Italy is the smallest city in the world with a population of just over 800. Also referred to as Citta del Vaticano, Vatican City is the temporal seat of the Pope and is situated in the west central part of Rome.

While you are visiting this holy city a trip to the famous St Peter's Square should not be missed. This famous meeting point was designed sot that many people could witness the Pope giving his blessing from a window from the Vatican Palace or the middle of the façade of the church. Set in the middle of St Peter's Square is the obelisk which originated in Egypt and has been in the one spot since 1586 A.D.

Also a trip to the Apostolic Palace should not be missed as this is the home of the Pope. If your a fan of museums then The Vatican Museum is a must with its famous spiral staircase and its fascinating exhibitions.
