Helgoland which was originally under possession by the British and the Danish has long since been an island nation belonging to Germany. While visiting Helgoland it would be impossible to enjoy the countryside as the island features many sandy beaches although some feature drops as high as 50 metres.

The main island of Hauptinsel is split into two regions of the Unterland or Lower Land and the Oberland otherwise known as the Upper Land. The main way of getting to Helgoland is by boat. The main language spoken on the the archipelago of Heligoland is the Heligolandic dialect although German is commonly spoken.

There are many natural attractions on the island in particular The Lange Anna is a popular tourist destination. While exploring Lange Anna which is also known as Tall Anna you will be in for a treat as the 47 metre free standing column is continually surrounded by breeding sea birds.
