Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany and also one of it's most popular tourist destinations. Hamburg is located on the southern tip of the Jutland Peninsula in the north of Germany and is also the largest port of the country, as well as being the second largest in the whole of Europe. With a population of over 1.7 million people, Hamburg is the most populated city in Europe that is not a capital city.

Hamburg is also famous for it's many churches. The most prominent are St. Michaeliskirche, St. Nikolaikirche, St. Petrikirche, St. Jacobikirche and St. Katharinenkirche.

The Museum fur Hamburgische, also known as Museum of Hamburg History, is located to the north of Wallringpark and was built in the early 1900's. The museum gives detailed descriptions of Hamburg city from the 8th century to today and features many exhibits such as scale models, a reconstructed 17th century Merchant's hall and a reconstructed air raid shelter from World War II.

St Petrikirche (St Petri Church) is the oldest parish church in Hamburg, dating back to the early 11th century. St Petrikirche was named after the Christian Apostle Peter, who is believed by the Catholic Church, to be the first Pope. First used as a market Church in 1195, St Petrekirche was rebuilt in 1310 in the Gothic style. The church features bronze lion head door handles which is the oldest artwork in Hamburg and date from 1342. The tower of St Petrikirche stands at 123 metres. It takes 544 steps to get to the top.
