Reims

General Information about Reims

Set in Northern France the city of Reims was first inhabited in Roman times by the Gauls. Reims is famous for its role it played in the coronation of many of French Kings with the crowning occuring in the Notre-Dame de Reims. Reims is home to over 188,000 residents and is located just 144 kilometres away from Paris within the region of Champagne-Ardenne.

Reims is also closely neighboured by Luxembourg at a distance of approximately 260 kilometres. Reims is the capital of the Champage province and is also well known for its production of quality champagne.

There are many interesting sights worth exploring through while you are visiting Reims and the Notre-Dame de Reims is one Reims most popular attractions. Attracting thousands of visitors each year The Notre-Dame de Reims that stands today was built in the 13th century and is today listed as a World Heritage Site. The Palace of Tau is joined to the Cathedral and exploring through this section is of particular interest as it features a variety of statues from the 15th century.
