Bordeaux is one of the major cities, ports and tourist destinations of France. Bordeaux is located in the south west of the country on the Atlantic coast and is built on the bend of the Garonne River. The area of Bordeaux is believed to have been inhabited as long as 90,000 years ago as remains of Homo neanderthalensis' have been found in a cave just north of the city. Today Bordeaux has a population of over one million people.

Bordeaux features namy attractions, famous sites and places of interest such as Cathedrale St-Andre, Sainte-Croix Church, Saint-Michel basilica, Saint-Seurin basilica, Palais Gallien, Esplanade des Quinconces, Musee d'Historie Naturelle and Spa de Vinotherapie Caudalie.

Cathedral St-Andre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with sections dating from 1096. The majority of the Cathedral St-Andre which stands today was constructed during the 13th and 14th centuries. The most famous attractions of the cathedral are the masonary carvings on the north portal and the gothic belfry, Tour Pey-Berland which was built in mid 1400's and stands at 50 metres tall. The spire, topped off with the Notre Dame of Aquitaine statue was erecterd in the 18th century.

The Saint-Seurin Basilica is another of Bordeaux's UNESCO World Heritage Sites and is the oldest church in the city. The basilica, which dates back to the 6th century, was constructed in Romanesque style and added to through the centuries with Gothic style elements. The Saint-Seurin Basilica features an 11th century portico, 12th century apse and transept and an ancient crypt which houses the marble sarcophagi of the Merovingian family.
