Torquay

General Information about Torquay

Often referred to as the Queen of the English Riviera in South West England is where you will find the charming town of Torquay. Torquay has been inhabited since palaeolithic times is home to over 63,000 residents. Found within the county of Devon, Torquay is neighboured by Torbay and Paignton while the closest major city is Plymouth at a distance of 34 miles and Bristol which is approximately 97 miles away.

Torquay is a popular travel destination and attracts many visitors each year because of the many beautiful beaches and interesting attractions in the area. One of the most visited beaches in Torquay is the Oddicombe Beach. There are many interesting attractions worth exploring through and the Torre Abbey and Kents Cavern are just two examples.

The Torre Abbey dates back to 1196 and was originally used as a monastery and features a fascinating art gallery set within the historical Spanish Barn. The Kents Cavern is a interesting cave system that is over 2 million years old. In fact it is the Kents Cavern that draws so many visitors to the area.
