General Information about Lincolnshire

The county of Lincolnshire is set in the East Midlands and and is divided into nine districts. The districts included in Lincolnshire are North Kesteven, South Kesteven, East Lindsey, West Lindsey, South Holland, Boston, North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire with Lincoln being the main city of the county. The combined population for Lincolnshire is approximately 1,004,200 residents.

While you are visiting Lincolnshire be sure to visit the ever popular seaside town of Skegness which is thought to be the Blackpool of the East Coast. But of course if would be impossible to visit Lincolnshire without visiting the county's main town of Lincoln which is home to over 87,000 residents and has been inhabited since the Iron Age. Lincoln is located approximately 55 miles away from Sheffield and just 40 miles away from Nottingham. Lincoln attracts many visitors each year and boasts numerous interesting historical sights that are well worth visiting.

The Lincoln Cathedral is just one example of the city's historical architecture dating back to 1092 when construction first began. This remarkable structure is famous for being one of the world's tallest buildings from 1300 until 1549.

There are so many interesting sights worth visiting in Lincolnshire ranging from historical buildings, a variety of outdoor activities such as visiting the Alkborough Turf Maze or the Kesteven Forest which can be found near the town of Bourne.
