General Information about Hastings

The town of Hastings which is thought to have been inhabited since the Bronze Age, is located within the region of Southeast England. Hastings is located within the county of East Sussex nd is just 37 miles away from the city of Brighton and a distance of 32 miles from the county of Kent. Home to over 86,000 residents and located just minutes from Hastings is the district of St Leonards-on-Sea.

One of Hastings most well known features is the Hastings Pier which has been apart of the town since 1872. Hastings is home to a variety of historical castles that are definitely worth visiting. One of the first castles that you will notice is the Hastings Castle which is located near the coastline. The original castle that stands today was refortified back in 1220 but throughout history has been battered and partially destroyed. Another well visited castle is the Herstmonceux Castle which was originally built back in 1441.

While you are visiting Hastings be sure to visit The Hastings Country Park, which is one of the best ways to view the local countryside. The Hastings Country Park features a variety of outdoor activities as well as many popular picnic spots.

Getting to Hastings is simple with regular trains arriving from Ashford, Brighton and London. Travelling to Hastings via bus and car is also possible.
