General Information about Dover

Located along the narrowest part of the English Channel the town of Dover can be found within South East England in Kent. Dover is closely neighboured by Canterbury and attracts many visitors each year. One of Dover's most recognisable landmarks is the Strait of Dover with its chalk like cliffs. Dover is within close proximity of France with just the English Channel separating the two.

Home to over forty thousand residents Dover is a prospering city due to its busy port known simply as the Port of Dover. In fact the Port of Dover welcomes as many as 16 million visitors each year. While you are visiting Dover one of the towns main attractions besides the Strait of Dover is the Dover Castle. The Dover Castle was built during the 12th century and is a very interesting place to visit with its secret tunnels and Norman architecture.
