The country of Devon which is neighboured by Cornwall is in fact the third largest county in England covering a total area of 2,590 square miles. Devon is divided into ten districts with the with the main city being Exeter.
Also known as Devonshire, Devon is within reach of many major cities with Bristol being the closest followed by Southampton with London being located approximately 200 miles away. Devon which is of Celtic heritage and has been inhabited since 6,000 B.C. and is ideally located along the East Devon Coast and the Dorset Coast.
One of the most popular towns visited in Devon is Torbay which is well known for its popular beaches. Torbay is home to over 133,000 residents and is often referred to as the English Riviera.
There are many ways of reaching Devon with the most popular means of transportation being via rail with regular trains arriving from Cornwall, Somerset, Bristol and London. You can get to Devon by flying but the airport is considerably small.
