General Information about Cornwall

Found at the furtherest south western peninsula of England along the Atlantic Ocean is the country of Cornwall which is approximately 277 miles away from London. Cornwall attracts many visitors each year with the closest major city of Plymouth being located just 48 miles away while other cities such as Bristol and Cardiff are over 160 miles away. Cornwall is a popular travel destination because of the country's strong Celtic heritage. Boasting a population of over 526,000 residents with approximately 19,000 people living in the main city of Truro.

Cornwall is well known as being the birthplace of history's great King Arthur who was born in the village of Tintagel. The main attraction of Tintagel is of course the Tintagel Castle. The countryside of Cornwall is of extreme beauty and it is the granite moorland known as Bodmin Moor that are of particular interest. Visiting Cornwall would not be complete without viewing these historical formations.

Cornwall is home to a variety of festivals and events with folk festivals being the most popular attraction. Also well known for its local cuisine in particular Cornish Pasties, which should definitely not be missed.
