Horsens

General Information about Horsens

Found at the eastern end of Jutland and just under three hours away from Copenhagen is the city of Horsens. Horsens is home to over 51,000 residents and is neighboured by Silkeborg and Odense. The charming city of Horsens has been inhabited since the time of the Vikings and is a very fascinating city to visit.

Horsens features a wide range of historical buildings that are worth exploring through and the Lichtenbergs Palace is no exception. Dating back to 1744 and featuring architecture of Baroque influences, the Lichtenbergs Palace is one of the most visited monuments in the city. Other well known monuments and attractions of Horsens are the Bygholm Castle and the Lunden Art Museum / Horens Museum.

Horsens is famous for hosting the annual festival known as the European Medieval Festival which takes place in August. This festival has been running since 1995 and attracts visitors and artists from all over Europe.

The best way to get to Horsens is via rail as the nearest airport is located just over an hour away from the city within the region of Tirstrup. There is also an airport located within the region of Billund, however this is approximately two hours away from Horsens.
