General Information about Herning

You will find the town of Herning just forty minutes away from the city of Silkeborg on the peninsula of Jutland. Herning which was originally established as a town back in the 1800's is a pleasant city to visit and is famous for being the Danish City of the Year in 1965 and recently in 2003.

There are plenty of interesting places to visit in Herning and the Herningsholm Mansion is an excellent place to start. The Hernigsolm Mansion features exhibitions from the famous author of Steen Steensen Blicher. If you are a fan of art then a trip to the towns Museum of Art should not be missed. The exhibitions at this museum are housed in the building by the name of Birk lies the Anligarden.

As you wander through the streets of Herning be sure to pay attention to the numerous amount of historical sculptures that are scattered throughout.
