Frederikshavn

Found at the northern end of the Jutland peninsula is the city of Frederikshavn which means simply Frederik's Harbour. Home to over 24,000 residents, Frederikshavn is over four hours away from the nations capital of Copenhagen but just forty-five minutes away from the city of Aalborg.

One of Frederikshavn's most popular destinations is the nearby Sæby which is a popular seaside resort. Found just twenty minutes away from the city Sæby boasts a variety of historical monuments that should definitely be on your list of places to visit.

Frederikshavn is home to a variety of museums that are worth exploring through and the Bangsbo Manor and Museum is a fine example. Dating back to 1750 the Bansbo Manor features maritime exhibitions with the Ellingaschiff being one of the most popular displays. Another popular museum that should not be missed is the Powder Tower Museum which can be found near the towns harbour. The Powder Tower Museum has been a monument of Frederikshavn since 1688.

The best way to get to Frederikshavn is via rail with regular trains arriving from Aalborg, Copenhagen, Hjorring, Odense and Arhus. You can also get to Frederikshavn by ferry from Sweden and Norway.
