Troyan

General Information about Troyan

Troyan, which was first established as a town in 1868 and is now home to approximately 30,000 residents. Ideally set along the Bele Osam River, you will find Troyan within the central parts of Bulgaria with the closest major city being the capital Sofia.

While you are visiting Troyan be sure to visit the nearby National Reserves connected with the Central Balkan National Park. The Central Balkan National Park boasts a total of nine reserves with the reserves known as Steneto, Severen Jendem and Kozia Stena being closest to Troyan.

One of Bulgaria's famous monastery's can be found within the town of Troyan and is known simply as Troyan Monastery. Dating back to the 16th century and is also Bulgaria's third largest monastery and attracts many visitors each year.
