Burgas

General Information about Burgas

Originally known as Ahelo-Pirgas in the 17th century but today known as Burgas, this popular city is home to over 230,000 residents. Set along the Bulgarian Black Sea within the province of Burgs, Burgas is in fact Bulgaria's fourth largest populated city.

There is plenty to keep you occupied while you are visiting this historical city with a number of interesting museums worth visiting. Some of the most visited museums are the Burgas Regional Historical Museum which is a great place to start if you would like to learn about the city's history, however the Museum of nature and Science is also well worth the trip. If your more interested in the arts be sure to visit the Gallery of Fine Arts.

Burgas is well connected with Bulgaria with trains and buses being two of the most popular means of transportation, but you can also get there by flying.
