Originally known as Castrilocus and Montes, the city of Mons is located within the Wallonia Region in Hainaut Province. Mons is also the capital of Hainaut Province and is home to over 91,000 residents. Mons is neighboured by La Louviere, Saint-Ghislain and is just over an hour away from Brussels.

The city's Town Hall and Central Square are just a starting point of places to visit while you are at Mons. One of the best ways to learn about the history of Mons is by visiting the museum known as Musee de la Vie Montoise.

There are numerous attractions worth visiting at Mons with the Beffroi being of particular interest with its Baroque architecture and dates back to 1661 and boasts an extraordinary 47 bells. The beffroi is 285 feet high and offers some amazing views of Henneqau.
