Located just thirty-three kilometres away from Brussels is the city of Mechelen and is also just over twenty-five kilometres away from the city of Antwerp. Set within the Flemish Region, Mechelen is home to over 80,000 residents with the majority speaking Dutch.

There are many interesting sights worth visiting while you are at Mechelen such as the Saint Rumbolds Cathedral. This remarkable piece of history has even been listed as a World Heritage Site. The architecture of the the Saint Rumbolds Cathedral has very strong Baroque influences with the façade of the building being of particular interest. One of the most visited sights at Mechelen is the Brusselpoort which is the last remaining city gate out of twelve.
