Linz

General Information about Linz

Linz which was originally known as Lentia has been inhabited since 799 A.D in the state of Upper Austria. Linz is home to over 189,000 residents and is the third most populated city in Austria. Linz has a very large student population and is a typical industrial city.

There are many interesting things to see while you are visiting Linz with the Lentos Art Museum being one of the city's main features. The building of the museum glow blue in the evenings with the lights reflecting off the Danube river.

While you are visiting Linz you must take the time to explore through the Cathedral of Saint Mary. This spectacular cathedral which is the largest in Austria dates back to 1855 and was consecrated in 1924. One of Linz most notable buildings is the Pöstlingbergkirche church which was built on top a hill overlooking the city and dates back to 1748.

Getting to Linz is simple with the Blue Danube Airport being located just under seventeen kilometres away from the city. It is also possible to get to Linz via car, boat and train.
