VoskopojeGeneral Information about VoskopojeThe city of Voskopoje is located within the southern mountains of Albania at an elevation of 1160 metres. This interesting city was originally a major Balkan city and was home to approximately 60,000 residents.
Towards the end of the 17th century the city's population diminished drastically due to the attacks from the Ottomans and World War I. Today Voskopoje population is approximately 700 but holds the memory of ancient Voskopoje close to their hearts.
As a result of Voskopoje's past destruction there are few monuments to be seen, and those that are still standing are listed by the World Monuments Fund.
